  Just recently I booked a private luncheon there based on previous experience from many years ago. I found out the hard way that this is under new ownership and it definitely is not the place I remember. I should have known from the get-go that this was going to be a problem when I had to provide at least two weeks in advance everyone's menu selection! In my opinion, they need a frequently asked Q&A sheet regarding private affairs. Not only did I have to plan the event with the cashier between paying customers, there was info that I didn't get but needed. I was told when I placed my order 2 weeks in advance that one of the special request items I had selected might not be available because the owner/chef/whatever would be going out of town that weekend and might not be available to make the dish!?! I had to wait two days to get an answer during which time I was having to contemplate contacting guests and asking them to make another menu selection. When we arrived for our 1:00 timeslot, the previous party had not exited, and they took their sweet time about it. Once we were in the room reminded the cashier that there would be a few people arriving later in the event who would want to order from the menu. One wanted stuffed cantaloupe but couldn't get it. The reason? The restaurant ordered only enough canteloupes to fill my reserved order! Some of the guests didn't remember what they had ordered, so as the waitress brought the food in, I was checking against a sheet to match diner to dish. Impatiently, the waitress set down two plates of food and said rather haughtily, "I'll set it here and you figure it out." The staff did not watch the clock and check for removing dishes. I started removing plates myself, taking them to the kitchen where I was told that "The waitress will get those." I was trying to clear the table for dessert because I knew we were running out of time to have dessert and open presents. As if all that wasn't bad enough, the hot dishes were terrible - and it wasn't just my opinion - other gjests told me the same thing, There was no piped in music because the speaker was broken - they provided a CD player that didn't work...the list goes on and on. I was stressed to the max trying to make this event run smoothly, but it was beyond me While there were kitchen staff present, there was no manager present to "manage." Not only will I never book a function there again, I will never darken the door again. All these other posts about bringing people from Greensboro to eat here? You've GOT to be kidding. The best thing I can say about it? Adorning the tables were lovely fresh roses from the owner's rose garden. I will give the restaurant one star for the flowers.

  This is a wonderful quaint place to gather and enjoy food and friends. The atmosphere and flowers on each table are a very nice touch. I have eaten there many times, so I knew it would be the perfect place for a bridal shower for my step-daughther. They even had a selection of menus they would print up and put at each place setting. The private room was decorated beautifully, the food was great, the chocolate cake to die for and the staff was friendly, helpful and of course professional at making it a special day!
